Nicest Place in America

In 2020, Reader's Digest received a record number 1,177 story submissions for their annual search for the Nicest Places in America as people struggled against a deadly pandemic and racial injustice.

John D. Van Dyke, a middle school science teacher, nominated Buchanan and his story was selected. 

"This year's winning place shows that when Americans unite, we can overcome anything."
