Transportation & Logistics

Main highways are US-31 and US-12. Also in close proximity are interstate 94 to the north and I-80/90 to the south of Buchanan.

Two commercial airports serve the Buchanan area. Southwest Michigan Regional Airport in Benton Harbor, 22 miles north; and Michiana Regional Transportation Center, 12 miles south in South Bend, Indiana. The Michiana airport not only serves several airlines, it also serves as a bus depot for Greyhound and United Limo, and train station for the South Shore, a commuter train running from South Bend to Chicago several times a day.

Several smaller airports serving general aviation are in the area; Tyler Memorial Airport, Niles (9 miles east), Andrews Airport, Berrien Springs (10 miles north).

Amtrak provides passenger service in Niles, stopping at the renovated Niles Depot, which has been used in several major motion pictures.
